Two years and not much

Last two years i have put time into re enforcing the medium i work with. I spend more than half my year teaching and wanted to find a solution to "the keeping it alive" band wagon, which doesn't make sense. year one i built a darkroom for professionals to use. Year two began an annual showcase and publication of their work in central london and tour it to universities.

Photography is photography. Film, digital. Print or on screen. A carrot if it will work. What ever gets you there. But getting there with film and print is pricey and Its not as accessible so Nld (north London Darkroom) experimented with Punktum, free one day workshop and we crowd funded our show! £4000 raised, talks, events and more at universities, it paid off and was great to do. Thanks pledgers!

Summer 2014, i need to make work again, time to make pictures. NLD is good and the next show will be easier and bigger! Things are looking good for the medium. I just need to crack on and make something

Missing and found

"July this year, A series of photographic print works by the artist Sebastian Edge went missing moments before the show. The pictures were made on residence at la Rochelle film Festival in 2010, and were to reflect the time significance, duration and social and static elements of life and architecture. They were to be shown at the 17th century chateau at "Intermondes" July 2011.
Believed stolen and with numerous investigation. The large Panoramic of the cities harbour, the four piece work was mysteriously delivered to the place it was made and not the exhibition.... with no explanation! in Novemeber!! after the exhibition had long finished. It is currently being held with the rest of the collection at La Rochelles city museum. and will hopefully be on display very soon. As to its journey, it remains a mystery.."

Why?

Sometimes you get two choices, sometimes three, or four.. but on occasion its not possible, however much you want to, to do it all, i've tried. something always has to break, suffer or struggle, but what goes and what stays? what do we think, what do we say? but what we do..

I made a decision this summer, which will change the course of not just mine, but i hope 10 others, who will be able to feel an equal part in a place i have built. its just money. money stinks. but making pictures is more important than anything, recording what is real, and crafting it with sweat and blood. i paid a heavy price for this.. but this place is amazing because i have put everything into it.. and i have made it cheap, but priceless.. I put it all back in

lets begin..

Greetings from Angelus

I hang nobly on the wall
Looking at nobody at all.
I have been from heaven sent,
A man of angelic descent.

The human within me is good
And does not interest me.
I stand in the care of the highest
And do not need a face.

From where I come, that world
Is measured, deep, and clear.
What keeps me together in one piece
Is a wonder, it would appear.

In my heart stands the town
Whence God has sent me.
The Angel who bears this seal
Does not fall under its spell.

My wing is ready to beat,
I am all for turning back.
For, even staying in timeless time
Would not grant me much fortune.

My eye is darkest black and full,
My gaze is never blank
I know what I am to announce
And many other things.

I am an unsymbolic thing.
My meaning is what I am.
You turn the magic ring in vain.
I have no sense.
